A dog that was left inside a San Antonio apartment for more than an hour Wednesday has been taken to a veterinary hospital, authorities said.
The dog, a male Labrador retriever, was found inside a residence at 2855 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., about one mile from the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and Baca Avenue.
The San Antonio Fire Department tweeted that a resident was cleaning up the area after he heard a noise around 4:45 p.m. and saw the dog inside.
He called the fire department.
“The dog was found on a couch and on a bed, which is what we were able to confirm,” San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor said.
“The dog is in very good condition.
It’s just a shame that it’s in the apartment because the dog is very well behaved.”
A fire official told the San Antonio Express-News that a rescue was not involved in the incident and that the dog’s owners were not involved.
